Ziggy Kenney, a devoted and spirited white Pitbull/American bulldog mix, left pawprints on the hearts of many as he crossed the rainbow bridge on April 23, 2026. Born on September 23, 2012, Ziggy, affectionately known by his many nicknames—Tella, Tubby, Tibby—was more than just a pet; he was a true companion and protector.
Ziggy’s journey began when Lakota was in elementary school, her heart set on bringing him home. Her grandfather initially received Ziggy from a family relocating, but Lakota’s persistence paid off when, after two long years, she finally welcomed convinced her family to let her have Ziggy. From that moment on, he was forever by her side, a steadfast presence through all her days.
A playful spirit with endless love and fierce protection for those he adored, Ziggy was as much a force of nature as he was a gentle comfort. His boundless joy came alive during trips to the lake, where he would play fetch with Lakota for hours on end, creating precious memories in sunshine and laughter. Car rides were another favorite adventure, where the wind in his fur spoke of freedom and happiness. Yet, no matter where he went, his culinary heart belonged firmly to chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-A, a treat that made his tail wag with delight. On the other hand, windshield wipers were his sworn enemies—Ziggy’s curious, courageous spirit didn’t hold back when faced with those mysterious, moving blades, often tempting him to “attack” in his own unique way.
At home, Ziggy’s love was unmistakable. He showed it by showering his family and friends with kisses until their gentle protests sent him into happy retreat. His favorite spot in the world was snuggled in bed right beside Lakota—her soul dog and constant companion, inseparable companions through every twist and turn of life.
Ziggy leaves behind a loving family who cherish his memory deeply: his mom Lakota and dad Sage; Grandma Clarissa and Nana Lisa; his uncles Kaleb, Hunter, and Ed; and his aunt Emily. Not to be forgotten are his fur siblings, Wednesday and Indian, whose lives Ziggy enriched immeasurably.
Though Ziggy’s paws no longer tread the earth, his spirit runs free—chasing sunsets by the lake, nose wet with the breeze, heart full of love. To those who knew him, Ziggy was not just a dog, but a shining light of loyalty and joy, a reminder that love often comes on four paws and a wagging tail. Rest well, dear Ziggy, until you meet again at the next endless game of fetch.
