Rex Morales

February 14, 2012 — November 24, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Rottweiler, Rex Morales, affectionately known as Gordito Rex. Born on February 14, 2012, Rex brought joy and companionship to our lives for 15 extraordinary years, leaving us on November 24, 2025—just a few days shy of his birthday.

Rex was more than just a pet; he was a symbol of love and connection that blossomed alongside Ana and Eddie Morales, starting when Ana was only 16 years old. He arrived as a Valentine's Day gift from Eddie, a testament to their budding love, and from that moment, a bond was forged that would last through the ups and downs of life. Always there, Rex became their constant companion, sharing in every moment of happiness and serving as a comforting presence in times of difficulty.

Our dear Gordito was a lively spirit, with his striking black and brown coat highlighted by a charming white spot on his chest and those irresistibly baby eyes. His joyous growls echoed through their home, sounding remarkably like an alligator, a unique soundtrack to their days filled with laughter and love. Whether he was playing with his tiniest toys or attempting to catch them mid-air, Rex brought boundless joy with every wag of his tail and playful interaction.

One of Rex's greatest pleasures in life was indulging in bacon treats—particularly during Tamale season, when he would sneak around and make off with goodies from the counter. The cheekiness of our Gordito will forever bring smiles through the bittersweet tears of remembrance.

Rex had a playful habit of chasing shadows, never tiring of the thrill that came with watching them dance across the ground, always a great source of entertainment for both him and his family. Their moments together included the warmest hugs; Eddie cherishes the memories of being enthusiastically greeted by Rex, who would leap onto his two hind legs to embrace him, patting the air for a proper hello. This companionship also extended to countless snuggles and sweet kisses that Rex would bestow upon Ana, creating a comfort that words could hardly describe.

While Rex was a gentle giant with those he loved, he took his time to accept new friends, often observing from a distance before cautiously approaching, ready to share his affection if their intentions were right. He was deeply loved by all who entered their lives, including his best friend Icey, who kept Rex young and active for eight delightful years filled with wrestling and playtime.

As the Morales family has grown—now a thriving family of 6 with two tiny humans—Rex's absence will be profoundly felt. Gordito took part in their journey from young teenage love to a life filled with shared joy, and while he may have left this world, his spirit will remain forever embedded in their hearts.

Thank you, Rexyy Bear, for 15 amazing years filled with laughter, love, and loyalty. You are irreplaceable, and your memory will forever be cherished in the shared pillows and hearts of your family. Rest well, dear Gordito. Your legacy of happiness will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing you. Forever in our hearts, sweet pup.
