Maxwell Mesa

Maxwell Mesa, lovingly known as Maxwell McLaughlin and affectionately called Shmaxwell, Shmaxie, and Miggity Maxie, passed away on September 11, 2026. He was born on March 1, 2021, and throughout his life he brought warmth, comfort, and joy to the family who loved him so deeply.

A short-haired black tuxedo cat, Maxwell joined his family in a memorable way. He was found at work in some pallets and brought home, beginning a bond that would grow into something truly special. From the start, he showed the gentle and welcoming spirit that made him unforgettable. He was the friendliest, most loving, and sweetest boy, always ready to receive every bit of affection he could. Maxwell loved everyone, and he was often the first to come out to greet visitors, happily asking for pets and sharing his easy, caring nature.

Maxwell had a special way of connecting with people. He adored belly scratches and head pets, and he would headbutt until he got the attention he wanted. He made his love known in simple, tender ways that will always be remembered. His personality reminded his family of Kayla’s late husbands dad, sharing that same loving and caring spirit that made others feel at ease.

He found happiness in life’s sweetest routines. He loved playing with Lucky, the family’s Miniature Poodle, and he treasured nap time in Mom’s lap. He enjoyed his wet food and Chick-fil-A nuggets, and some of his favorite places were Mom’s lap and a basket of clothes, where he could settle in comfortably and feel close to home. Maxwell was one of the family’s favorite boys, a constant source of companionship and affection.

He leaves behind Kayla, his devoted Mom, along with his pet siblings Mama Girl, Little Baby, Fluffy, Keke, and Lucky. In the home they shared, Maxwell’s presence was a gift—gentle, steady, and full of love. He will be missed in the quiet moments, in the welcoming way he greeted others, and in the familiar places where he loved to rest.

Maxwell’s memory will live on in the many small and beautiful moments he gave so freely: a nudge for attention, a nap in a loving lap, a cheerful greeting at the door, and the comfort of his sweet companionship. He was deeply loved, and he will always be remembered.
