With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for the years shared together, we remember Koda, our cherished German Shepherd, who passed on August 3, 2026. From the moment Koda bounded into our lives at just six months old, he filled every corner of our home and hearts with love, companionship, and steadfast devotion.

Koda was, from the very start, loyal and strong-willed, a true protector in every sense of the word. For over 14 years, he guarded our family and our home, always vigilant and ready at our side. Through every season of his life, Koda’s protective spirit was as comforting as it was unwavering, watching over our children with the gentlest patience and loyalty that will forever leave an imprint on us.

His sense of fun was infectious—especially when it involved anything to do with water or his beloved squeaky balls. Trips to the lake became treasured memories, where Koda’s joy shone brightest as he fetched his ball from the water, carefree and delighted. At home, he would follow us everywhere, our faithful shadow, never wanting to miss a moment with his family. His presence was always felt, from the tap of his paw begging for belly rubs to his bossy bark as he claimed his role as the “fun police.” As he grew older and could no longer join in the wild antics of his younger fur siblings, he made sure that no fun was had without him being part of it—even if that meant barked reminders that he was still in charge.

Koda’s appetite was as big as his personality. He never met a food he didn’t like; if it was left on the table, cereal, popcorn, or anything else, he’d claim it as his own. His family often lovingly referred to him as a “food hog,” but it was all part of his unique charm that endeared him to everyone who knew him.

Above all, Koda’s loyalty was unforgettable. No matter the day, no matter the circumstance, he would lay at our feet, quietly insisting on being close, offering comfort with his silent presence. Whether keeping watch over us in the yard, keeping the “fun” in check with his bark, or curling up for a nap after a long day, Koda was always there—the constant in our lives, the heart of our family.

Koda leaves behind his beloved humans: mom Tori, dad Luke, and his siblings Chase and Sloane, who adored him beyond measure. His legacy of care and companionship also continues with his fur siblings Hux, Tiny, and Sadie, who surely feel the absence of their leader and friend.

As we say goodbye to our incredible companion, we hold close the memories of love and laughter he brought into our lives. Koda’s place will never be filled; he was our protector, our playmate, and our most loyal friend.
