Jill Gressett

Feb 24, 2017 — Aug 15, 2026

Jill Gressett, lovingly known as “Lovebug,” crossed the rainbow bridge on August 15, 2026, having brought nearly a decade of boundless joy, laughter, and comfort to her devoted family. Born on February 24, 2017, Jill’s journey began when, at just ten weeks old, she found a home brimming with open arms and open hearts after being adopted from the Brownwood Animal Shelter. From that very first day, she made sure her presence was felt—her arrival marking the start of endless cherished memories.

Jill was a mixed-breed soul with a spirit as colorful and unique as her patchwork coat. She quickly earned her affectionate nickname, “Lovebug,” not only for her sweetness, but also for her unwavering desire to be at the center of attention. With a nature both willful and gentle, Jill was the undeniable “sub of the pack.” She could charm anyone with her big, soulful eyes, always seeking a scratch, a cuddle, or simply a quiet place by your side. To know Jill was to witness her giving paw for more love, drinking in all the affection the world had to offer and then giving it back tenfold.

She had quirks that filled her family’s days with laughter—from her habit of stealing her siblings’ toys for playful games of keep away, to her astounding athleticism, leaping against the fence just to catch a glimpse into the world beyond, never actually crossing the line. Jill was the mischievous “dumb blonde” of the household, all bark and absolutely no bite. Her playful, loving antics stitched her tightly to the hearts of her family.

A formidable bug hunter and a notorious ninja kisser, Jill’s presence never went unnoticed. She would shower her humans with licks and bestow ninja-like surprise kisses, always keeping them on their toes yet never failing to melt their hearts. No bug was ever safe; Jill chased and pounced on every invader with the seriousness of a seasoned hunter and the agility of a snapping turtle after flies. She could find joy in the simplest things—absolutely any food, for Jill was a self-declared garbage disposal, and nothing delighted her more than car rides, her head out the window, ears flapping, nose in the wind.

Her connection to her family ran deeper than the daily rituals of play and snuggles. Jill communicated love through her gentle gaze, always seeking out her loved ones, sitting quietly by their side, and asking for the kind of scratches that sent her tail thumping with pure contentment. Even in her naughtiest moments, she was impossible not to adore.

Among the memories that will continue to light the hearts of those who loved her is the unforgettable scene of puppy Jill curling up on top of her older brother, Jack—a simple image that perfectly captured her innocence and desire for closeness. Whether she was playing tag, giving paw, or simply watching the world with trusting eyes, Jill made every day more meaningful for those she left behind.

Jill is survived by her beloved mom and dad, who gave her a forever home filled with love, laughter, and understanding; her older brother, Jack, who always watched over her; and her younger sister, Padfoot, who will continue the games they once shared. Together, they created a family defined by devotion and warmth—a bond that can never be broken.

Jill Gressett’s legacy lives on in the gentle love, comfort, and joy she offered every day of her life. While her paws no longer patter through the house, the memory of her deep brown eyes and eager affection will always linger, a sweet reminder of the love that will not fade.
