Humphrey Dial

Humphrey Dial, affectionately known as Humpy Bumpy, wagged his last tail on June 1, 2026, after six and a half years of filling hearts and homes with unconditional love. Rescued on September 24, 2019, and 100% Good Mutt Tan/White, Humphrey’s journey to becoming a beloved family member was nothing short of miraculous.

His story began the very day he joined his forever family, after Alyson spotted a post on Facebook about an abandoned, sick dog who many thought might not survive the night. That first evening, fearful of losing him, she held him close against her chest so he would know love before any darkness could take hold. Little did she know, it was she who would need his warmth and light for years to come. And what years they were!

Humpy Bumpy was a master of love in its purest form. Anyone lucky enough to meet him quickly learned that he believed the entire world existed just for them to pet him—and who could blame him? His favorite pastimes included tagging along on road trips, snuggling up as close as possible (he was a true Stage 5 clinger), and engaging in lively games of tug-of-war. When foster puppies visited, his heart grew even bigger as he played like an adored big brother.

Food was a passion of his, with human meals far outshining his own dog food, though he thoroughly enjoyed that, too—so much so that he required a slow feeder to keep up. Among his charming quirks was his habit of barking only at dogs twice his size, a bold and amusing trait that endeared him further to those around him.

Humphrey's legendary “Humpy Bumpy” nickname came from one of those unforgettable moments, when after four years in their first home, he forgot about a tree stump in the backyard and ran straight into it, reminding everyone that even the best pups have their goofy moments.

He communicated his boundless love not just through adorable antics, but through his soulful, big brown eyes and the gentle touch of his paw. He wove a tapestry of friendship, not only with his human family but also with his fur siblings—Hula, Millie, Chelsy, Fifi, Mika, and Ed—each one's life made brighter by his presence.

Humphrey was a steadfast companion and a cherished soul. He loved to snooze nestled between his dad Chance’s legs or cuddled close by his mom Alyson, always there, always against you. He didn’t mind the destination, as long as he was right beside those he loved.

He leaves behind his devoted mom Alyson, dad Chance, grandma Julie, grandpa Keith and his beloved fur siblings to carry forward the warmth and love he so generously shared. His paw prints are etched on their hearts, a lasting reminder that sometimes the greatest lights come on four paws, with a wagging tail and an endless supply of love.

Goodbye for now, dear Humpy Bumpy. Run free in fields of endless cuddles and treats. You will be dearly missed and always remembered.
