Dorothy Fernandez

Oct 1, 2012 — Oct 14, 2026

14 years of love, loyalty, and unforgettable memories.

Dorothy came into our lives as a gift and became one of the most beautiful blessings our family could have received.

From the very beginning, she was playful, mischievous, and always hungry. As the years passed, she became a calm, sleepy, and pampered little old lady, but she never lost her wonderful ability to detect food. She loved grapes, sweets, ice cream, and any treat someone was willing to share with her.

She was friendly with everyone, especially when food was involved. She loved car rides, sticking her head out the window, and feeling the wind in her little ears. Chuy always made sure she looked beautiful, taking her to the groomer and styling her with her big bows. Dorothy was a true princess, and of course, the front seat of Chuy’s car belonged to her. No one could sit there without her approval.

She also had her mischievous ways: she would make little holes in the blankets whenever we went somewhere without her, and she would steal the children’s food the moment they became distracted. She loved running through the parks and sleeping beside the people she loved, especially in bed, close to her family.

We will always cherish the moments when she stayed by our side during difficult times. When I was going through a serious illness, Dorothy never left me, offering comfort through her quiet presence and unconditional love. We will also remember tenderly the time when she became a mother for the first time, and the day she discovered the ocean, joyfully jumping into the waves in a way we will never forget.

We will deeply miss the way she greeted us when we came home, with such sincere happiness that made everything seem all right. The house feels different without her—without her little barks, her funny habits, her naps, and her insistence on receiving a treat.

Dorothy and Chuy shared 14 years of love and companionship. They were inseparable, best friends, and lifelong companions. Chuy cared for her, spoiled her, and gave her a life filled with love, walks, and happy moments. She returned that love with absolute loyalty. Wherever one was, the other was sure to be nearby, and together they made every place feel like home.

To us, Dorothy was much more than a pet: she was a daughter, an unconditional companion, and an irreplaceable part of our family. She taught us that happiness lives in the simplest things: a walk, a warm bed, the wind on our faces, a sweet treat, and the closeness of the people we love.

Rest in peace, our beautiful Dorothy. Thank you for being with us, for caring for us in your own special way, and for giving us such pure love. We hope that you are now running freely, without pain, through parks filled with light, with your little ears blowing in the wind.

Watch over your beloved Chuy from heaven. He will miss you on every walk, at every meal, and in every place you shared together.

14 years with you were not enough, Dorothy. You take a part of our hearts with you, but you leave us a lifetime of memories.

Until we meet again, our beautiful girl.

With all our love, your family.
