Bear Leir

Jul 10, 2012 — Jun 25, 2026

With heavy hearts and loving memories, we say farewell to Bear, affectionately known as “Murder Mittens,” who blessed the world from July 10, 2012, until June 25, 2026. Bearing glossy black fur and vivid green eyes, Bear was the cherished companion of the Leir family—an irreplaceable presence whose loyalty and playfulness brightened every day for those lucky enough to know him.

Bear’s story began with profound resilience and love. Soon after his birth, he faced early hardship, losing his fur mother. Through the kindness of Aimee’s grandmother, who bottle-fed him before Aimee took over, Bear found his way into the hearts and home of his forever family.

Through fourteen beautiful years, Bear was more than a pet; he was the best friend to his humans—his mom Aimee, dad James, and brother Jakob—and a loving fur sibling to Trigger, Lola, Natasha, Yelena, and Scarlet the iguana. There was something unmistakably special about the way Bear greeted his humans at the door each day, his soft purrs welcoming them home as though no joy could have been greater than their return. At night, he would sleep on Aimee’s pillow, his gentle presence a comfort and delight—proving that love, for Bear, meant never being far from those he adored.

What made Bear unforgettable were his delightful quirks and spirited antics. Bubble baths were never solitary for Aimee; Bear, ever playful, would attack the bubbles with a vigor that brought laughter and light. Nothing delighted him more than sneaking next door for a nap on the neighbor’s boat, or indulging in his favorite treat, chicken tenders. His life was a celebration of small pleasures—cuddles, naps, purring contentedly beside his family, and the gentle mischief that gave him his nickname.

Bear’s devotion was a gift that shaped his family’s days—filling each moment with love, warmth, and companionship. He gave the Leir family fourteen extraordinary years of happiness, loyalty, and the rich, simple joys that only a true fur friend can offer.

His memory lives on in the hearts of his beloved family and fur siblings, whose lives were brightened each day by his presence. Bear’s legacy is one of unwavering love—a testament to the remarkable bond that can grow between a devoted animal and those he loves. While the house will seem a little quieter now, Bear’s spirit will forever remain on the pillow on the bed, in the bubbles of a bath, and at the doorway to welcome loved ones home.

Run free, sweet Bear. Thank you for every purr, every cuddle, and every memory. You will always be loved and deeply missed.
